Issue for automatic updates of ClubSec
An "issue" has arisen caused by Microsoft policy which will affect some users of
ClubSec as well as users of many other .NET based software products.
Software vendors use a "certificate" to uniquely identify their products. This is
an excellent security measure as it prevents a rogue hacker from providing an "update"
to someone else's product.
Alas, over time, certificates expire - the vendor simply gets a new one. Alas, the
new certificate will NOT be a duplicate of the old certificate and so any attempt
to update software will fail with the message "The deployment identity does not
match the subscription."
What is more, the currently installed version of the application will also no longer
function!
Solutions are (fortunately) easy!
Firstly, we advise that you backup your data by creating a copy of the ClubSec folder
in your C: drive (do not remove the original copy though). You then have three options:
1) Using Control Panel and Add/Remove programs, you may have the option to "Roll
back" to a previous version of ClubSec
2) You can uninstall the software and re-install from your original CD.
If you choose either of these options, whenever you are informed that a new version
of ClubSec is available to download, press the Cancel button.
3) RECOMMENDED. Uninstall ClubSec (via Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs) then
download the Update by clicking here.
Please note that this link will NOT install a working version of ClubSec on a machine
that does not already have ClubSec installed!
